Thanksgiving Crafts
Thanksgiving is a wonderful family time. It's great when children can be part of the preparations, and even better if their crafts can be part of the Thanksgiving table decorations.

Pilgrim Hats for Thanksgiving Dinner
- construction paper
- glue
- scissors
- optional - felt or ribbon
Instructions:
- Cut a rectangle from black construction paper. It should
be 3 inches wide by 8 inches long.
-
Cut a circle where the outside width across the circle is 4
inches. Draw an inner circle that is two inches
wide. Then add the tabs to the circle shape before you
start cutting. This circle will be the brim of the hat.
- Fold up the tabs. Make a tube from the rectangular
piece. It should be 3 inches long. Check that it fit
around the tabs on the inside before you start gluing.
- Cut out the trim (red band and yellow buckle) and glue them in
place.
- Roll up the napkins and put them inside the tube of the hat.
Hints:
- The red band and yellow buckle could be made from felt or ribbon.
- You can adjust the sizes to fit the type of napkins you will be using. If you are using paper napkins for Thanksgiving dinner, you might want to make smaller pilgrim hats.
