Ideas to keep children busy.

Today was one of those days when I had a lot to do, and needed to keep my son busy.

After playing some of his favorite games, I wanted to clean the kitchen. Once I had the first counter cleaned off. I got down a dish and let him experiment with dish detergent, water, food coloring and oil. Then I handed him a straw and he started blowing bubbles in his concoction!

We had seen something similar at Church on Sunday. It was one of those activities that is very easy to pull together, the supplies are right at hand, and can be facinating for the kids. This idea could keep a child busy long enough for you to ice a fancy cake, or get supper in the oven. The mess stays all in one pan, and there's already dish soap in it to make clean up quick and easy.

If you are looking for step by step instructions, I've posted them on our website under the title Colors and Bubbles.

I've got 3-4 more projects to the website, but I'll see what get's done before I take by summer vacation next week.

Have you seen this before? It's a number guessing game: http://www.amblesideprimary.com/ambleweb/mentalmaths/guessthenumber.html. I guessed 70007, and it got it right! Pretty neat.
