We've been making some changes to the Christmas sections of the website and added a fabulous activity idea sent in by one of our visitors. She used it for Thanksgiving, but I'm planning to use it for Christmas.
First, the website changes. There's a new page that lists all the Christmas crafts. A page that talks about the history of celebrating Christmas and where some of the customs and symbols come from. The third page has some ideas for new Christmas customs. You'll find ideas on how to set-up a Secret Santa exchange to letting the Christmas Spirit loose in your neighborhood.
The new activity idea was sent in by Debbi who used this idea to make a holiday book at Thanksgiving with the children in her daycare. I'm looking forward to using it this Christmas. By the time we're done, we'll have created a book all about our family's Christmas traditions. It's great to do this while the kids are young. Hopefully, we'll do at least every few years as our holiday traditions change as the kids get older. This year may be our last year with a child who believes in Santa, so I don't want to miss it!
Best of all, with a little imagination, this project can be made for any holiday. I've included some ideas for a Hanukkah book, but it could just as easily be made for Winter Solstice or Kwanzaa.
